Newman's Dog Training takes continuing education very seriously. We believe there is always more to learn in dog and puppy training and behavior. We are always looking for ways to stay on top of the latest science when it comes to behavior. By being a member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers we have access to numerous new behavioral articles, opportunities to earn CEUs, and the ability to learn from other trainers. The HEARTland Positive Dog Training Alliance has allowed us to connect with other trainers to bounce ideas off of and to learn from while also hosting seminars of the best trainers in our field. The Canine Good Citizen is a very well known certification that Newman's Dog Training has obtained to be an evaluator. We are able to train and test dogs for their owners to help reach their goals. When hiring new trainers, we look for well educated and experienced dog trainers to represent Newman's Dog Training. By doing this we have a combined 35+ years of experience. All of this helps us be the best trainer for you and your dog or puppy.
Certification Council of Professional Dog Trainers
The Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers® (CCPDT®), established in 2001, is the leading independent certifying organization for the dog training profession. The CCPDT is the leader in the development of rigorous exams to demonstrate mastery of humane, science-based dog training practices. Thousands of dog training professionals worldwide maintain the CCPDT’s certifications as a mark of high professional distinction.
Canine Good Citizen
The Canine Good Citizen (CGC) is a certification your dog can obtain to prove they know their commands and will behave in society. They will be tested on ten behaviors such as sit, down, walking on the leash, stay and more.
Not only will you be able to have a dog who knows their obedience behaviors but they will be an upstanding citizen in your communities.
May dogs who aspire to be Therapy dogs go through this certification or something very similar. Many hotels, landlords and other entities also recognize this certification and may allow your dog to visit when otherwise not able to.
Not only is Newman’s Dog Training a Certified Evaluator but we are also able to help you get your dog ready for the test!
Association of Professional Dog Trainers
Association of Professional Dog Trainers (APDT) allows their members to stay up to date on latest trends, techniques and scientific studies while creating and maintaining superior industry standards. They have endless ways to continue education to stay on top of new training information and refreshing up on the foundation.
HEARTland Positive Training Alliance
HEARTland Positive Training Alliance is a group dog trainers who promote force free positive training and handling.
This group facilitates meetings to discuss a variety of training topics with round table discussions following.
Many trainers are brought in for weekend seminars including Nicole Wilde, Suzanne Clothier, Pat Miller, Sarah Kalnajs, Ken Remirez, Grisha Stewart, Susan Freidman and more.
35+ Years of Hands on Experience
Newman's Dog Training trainers have a combined 35+ years of hands on animal and training experience.
This experience ranges from years as a zookeeper training a variety of exotic animals with positive reinforcement methods.
Years of working at veterinarians and the animals that came through that door. This is not only important for understanding behavior but also knowing possible underlying health issues that could be effecting behavior.
Years of working with dogs in their owners to reach their training goals.
Trainers with experience in medical alert service dog training for children with epilepsy, diabetes, PTSD, and autism.
What training techniques
does Newman's Dog Trainer's use?
We follow the studies that have been done over the past decades that proves using positive reinforcement is the best way to train not only dogs but every learning species. Newman's Dog Training follows LIMA. This is “Least Intrusive, Minimally Aversive”. LIMA describes a dog trainer who uses the least intrusive, minimally aversive approach of humane and effective methods to succeed in achieving the training objective.
